Where does the time go? A little while ago I finished boxing up most of the Christmas decorations and actually got them out to the garage. There is something appealing about the minimalist feel to the house now that the Christmas finery has been retired.
I don't usually make resolutions at the start of a new year. This year is different. I was introduced to the Harry Potter series in January of 2007. I spent the entire year of 2007 reading the books with my daughter. At the end of each book we rewarded ourselves by watching the movie. We finished up Deathy Hallows in September 2007 and since then I have been going through withdrawal. Since then I have discovered fan fiction. I'm not even sure how it happened, but I stumbled across some truly talented authors. Some authors, like G. Norman Lippert
have carried on the Harry Potter canon in beautifully creative stories. Others have let their imaginations run wild with alternative universe stories. I particularly enjoy reading stories on The Petulant Poetess
because they are so carefully reviewed before posting. Additionally their fan fiction software allows you to mark your read stories and bookmark stories!
So on to my resolution. I have dabbled writing a fan fiction story of my own. This year I vow to complete my own story. I've got an outline and the first draft is half-way completed. The exercise of writing will be good for me and hopefully I can give something worthwhile back to the community at Petulant Poetess!
